Fuell has helped many of our clients and local charities fundraise with exercise challenges over the last 6 months. Here are a few of the success stories.
Modern merchant bank Close Brothers have over 3,000 employees based across 10 UK locations. As part of their wider CSR strategy and to raise money for Cancer Research UK and the NSPCC, Close Brothers approached Fuell to create a step challenge that would work across their multiple office sites.
The challenge saw employees working together to achieve 14 million steps over 2 weeks.
Close Brothers smashed their challenge target – raising £4,500 for their chosen charities, which was then doubled to £9,000 by Close Brothers.
Here’s what the team had to say:
“The challenge definitely encouraged me to be more active. I certainly found myself walking to places I otherwise wouldn’t have to get the extra steps in, it was a fun, simple way to raise money and to encourage an active workplace. The amount raised, and success of our challenge simply could not have been possible without your generosity, both in terms of the app and time. Your advice, flexibility and guidance through the challenge were exceptional. Again, I do not believe it would have been possible without your energy and enthusiasm.”
Harry Towler, Risk Analyst
“Fabulous app to help competitive corporate challenges. Easy to use & fun”
Debbie Checketts, Senior Risk Manager
“Really enjoyed the challenge and made me aware of how active I was each day and was more active as a result”
Jan Maslen Brown
“Good fun and extra motivation to keep active”
James Freeman, Assistant Director
“Great app, easy to use, and gets you up and out exercising”
Mark Wilson, Corporate Sales Manager
“A great way to motivate and get your mojo back”
Vicky Cousins, Operational Excellence
HR Analytics Consultancy Peak Indicators have been an avid user of Fuell over the last 12 months, using monthly exercise challenges to not only motivate the team to be more active, but also using this activity to fundraise and donate to different charities each month.
Celebrating their 10th birthday in October, Peak challenged the company to work together, combining their efforts to hit a high point score. Walking, Running, Swimming & Cycling were all used to achieve Fuell points. The points were then converted to pounds – funding a new roof on the orphanage in Kenya.
Katy Mills, Operations Coordinator at Peak, gives the lowdown:
“We are keen to ensure that good news on our bottom line doesn’t only help Peak and our employees but the community and society as a whole. The charity challenge winner is in a unique position as they have the chance for the prize to all go directly to a charity of their choice. We are keen for this value to be spread throughout the teams and the charity challenge enables us to bring giving to the forefront each month.”
For the 10-year anniversary challenge, we set the challenge to the company as a whole, it was a chance for everyone to come together with the end goal in mind for a large donation to go to the orphanage in Kenya that peak has supported for a number of years.”
Home-Start UK, a leading family support charity, approached Fuell looking for new ways to fundraise in 2019. We worked with HomeStart in January to run a New year step challenge, giving supporters and trustees a little something extra for their efforts.
The goals of the challenge were simple; come together, have fun, get a little fitter whilst fundraising.
Over £300 was raised, with some excellent personal achievements too:
“I have loved the Home-Start/Fuell step challenge… From being virtually sedentary, I have walked over 150 miles in a month. I feel better, have increased my fitness, lost weight and enjoyed some lovely scenery on the way. Furthermore, competing with other steppers has been fun, albeit frustrating at times! Once the challenge is over, I am confident that 10,000 steps a day will be part of my normal lifestyle. What a great way to start the year.”
Julian, Home-Start Supporter
“I have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of this challenge. I needed to start walking again as I felt I was relying on my car too much. Fuell is a user-friendly app and it was uplifting to see the progress made throughout the challenge each day. It’s true …. of all the choices one has to get fit, NOTHING BEATS simply walking and I am sure this successful challenge has inspired us to continue. Congratulations to all who took part. Thank you again for everything you do.”
Nayla, Home-Start Supporter
We love being based in the heart of Soho and wanted to bring together local businesses and the community to help raise money for our local Parish Primary School, which relies heavily on donations to help enhance the lives of its children.
We challenged local businesses to battle it out in teams across a 4 x week step challenge, and what a battle it was. With the daily top spot changing constantly it was close right up to the last hour.
A big thank-you goes out to
The Met Police, Zuora, Ham Yard Hotel, Handle Recruitment, Top Leaf Design, Skating Panda and GymBox for taking part – Not to mention all of the amazing businesses that donated prizes.
Andrea, founder of Skating Panda stated:
“Fuell got Skating Panda walking. The challenge we just took part in was a warm-up for the next and I guess this is what it’s all about – forming great new habits and having fun tracking and competing.”
Our aim at Fuell is to get organisations moving to help improve physical health, it makes us proud to be able to help charities too. If you’d like to know more about our charity work or think Fuell could benefit you and your organisation, please get in touch.
